The Vanderbilt Science Support Center (VSSC) promotes lifelong learning of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by enhancing teaching effectiveness for K-12 teachers and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the STEM disciplines through mutually beneficial partnerships between the K-12 and university communities.
The VSSC was designed to accommodate the professional development needs of K-12 educators; increase STEM content knowledge for K-12 teachers; enhance teaching effectiveness of K-12 educators and STEM graduate students and postdoctoral fellows; and to create relationships between the K-12 and university communities.
Our current programs reflect the nature of our mission by providing mutually beneficial teaching experiences for K-12 teachers and STEM graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and increasing the understanding of STEM content knowledge of K-12 teachers through professional development opportunities.
