Interdisciplinary Science and Research ProgramThe Interdisciplinary Science and Research Program is a partnership between the Vanderbilt Center for Science Outreach and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools to enhance the understanding of STEM concepts and research principles of students and empowering teachers through scientific research. All courses are co-taught by a scientist-teacher team and focus on individualizing instruction to meet student needs.The program transitions students from basic understanding of scientific disciplines in the first year, to independent research in the junior and senior year. The Interdisciplinary Science and Research Program is elevating the learning and teaching of science, leading to students who are prepared to solve 21st century problems. |

Research Experience for High School StudentsThe Research Experience for High School Students (formerly Research Internship Program) is an intense 6-week scientific research internship at Vanderbilt University, centering on full immersion in a Vanderbilt University or Vanderbilt University Medical Center research lab. Students engage in an independent research project under the mentorship of a research faculty member at Vanderbilt. |
School for Science and Math at VanderbiltThe School for Science and Math at Vanderbilt (SSMV) is a joint venture between Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. The School offers high school students a four-year, interdisciplinary, research-centered learning experience at one of the nation's most prestigious universities, where internationally recognized faculty are leading the way in diverse fields of scientific study. |

Scientist in the Classroom PartnershipsThe Scientist in the Classroom Partnership (SCP) Program establishes partnerships between science teaching fellows (STFs) and Nashville middle school science teachers. The STFs are graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) who collaborate with educators in middle school science classrooms one day a week throughout the school year. STFs focus on working with teacher partners to develop and implement hands-on, inquiry-based activities, providing classroom demonstrations, assisting with tutoring students and directing student research projects. |

Vanderbilt Science Support CenterThe Vanderbilt Science Support Center was designed to accommodate the professional development needs of K-12 educators; increase STEM content knowledge for K-12 teachers; enhance teaching effectiveness of K-12 educators and STEM graduate students and postdoctoral fellows; and to create relationships between the K-12 and university communities. |
Volunteer Scientist in the Classroom PartnershipsThe Volunteer Scientist in the Classroom Partnership (VSCP) Program promotes partnerships between middle school science teachers and scientist by partnering teachers with scientists who spend a minimum of four hours per month in the classroom assisting with hands-on science activities. |
