The class of 2016 finished their summer research last week with a look into the world of forensic science. Specifically, the class looked at substances and surfaces that may interfere with the detection of blood at crime scenes. While the class did not find anything that would pose a particular problem to forensic investigators, they helped to build a database of items that may be found at a crime scene. Students also had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Bill Bernet, from the Department of Psychiatry, an expert on the use of behavioral genetics in murder trials.
