SSMV is Now Accepting Applications for the Class of 2016
The School for Science and Math (SSMV) is now accepting applications from current 8th grade students in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS). Twenty-six students will be selected for the Class of 2016 on the basis of test scores, grades, personal essays, and teacher recommendations. Students who complete the four-year program will earn an additional seven honors science elective credits.
The SSMV is a joint venture between Vanderbilt University Medical Center and MNPS. The SSMV offers high school students a four-year, interdisciplinary, research-centered learning experience at one of the nation's most prestigious universities, where internationally recognized faculty are leading the way in diverse fields of scientific study.
The SSMV, currently in its fifth year, graduated its first cohort of students last May. Those students now attend some of the nation's top colleges and universities.
